Gladiators were tough because they had to be! The strong survived and the weak died in the arena. Gladiators lived on limited rations of mostly a vegetarian cuisine and endured a rigorous training routine every day to develop stronger healthier physiques that contributed to their survival.

Why Would You Do This?
Reason 1:
This is the fastest way to reconnect you to the true value of food as a precious gift as it should be. Because we have all lost that, and we’ve become so wasteful. All food is energy and nothing should ever be wasted. Taking this challenge has taught me to enjoy and value food a lot more than ever before. I look at the nutritional content of food differently and realised that I could survive very well without big doses of protein every day.
Reason 2:
Living only on what can be purchased with $10 (£10, €10) for an entire week, whilst undertaking a daily hike and workout will test our intellect, strength, fitness and drive. Not only that, the physical benefits are terrific. In 7 days I stripped 2.4kg of fat and packed on 300g of muscle mass… my metabolic rate increased and I became healthier… and stronger mentally for succeeding with this worthy challenge.
Reason 3:
What better way to connect with those that suffer impoverishment around us in our own communities. The money that we save by taking on this amazing challenge can be graciously given back to our local communities or tribes as our personal mark of support as privileged members. I was delighted to donate the $140 I did not spend on food to OzHarvest – which will be used to deliver 280 meals to those in need.

What Do You Have to Do?
RULE 1
Pledge to your friends on social media that you have taken up “The Gladiator $10 a week Challenge” and declare what you normally spend on food for an average week.
RULE 2
Live on a $10 grocery spend for 7 days straight. This includes all food and drink you will consume.
RULE 3
Complete a daily 5km hike with a minimum 10kg load and a full body gym workout of your choice for 7 days straight.
RULE 4
To celebrate the successful completion of the challenge, donate the money you have saved from your pledged amount to a charity closest to you that helps the homeless.
